Wild Life

It is in the wild that we see the origins of our forefathers and the realisation of where we come from. Wildlife is an intricate part of human existence and there is no better place to start this discovery than the Jim Corbett Park.

Jim Corbett Park offers an exotic ride to the fast disappearing flora and fauna of India. It is home to more than 25 types of reptiles, 50 types of mammals, 600 types of birds and 7 types of amphibians. The main attraction is the endangered Bengal tigers, which need our support to make it to the next generation. The Corbett safari does not stop with Tigers, on a good day you can spot a plethora of other wild animals which can give you an adrenal rush like never before.

Other wild animals found in the reserve area include sambas, hogs, wild boars, elephants, sloths, and langurs. The lure of the national park is further enhanced with the presence of rare animals like black bucks, spotted deers, Himalayan Black bears and Indian Grey Mongoose. And due to its varied climatic conditions, Corbett park is also the preferred habitat of many resident and migratory birds like peacocks, eagles, jungle fowls and parakeets.

  The Bengal Tiger

Tigers are perhaps the most famous of all wild animals found in the wild today and the Bengal Tiger has its own charisma due to its large size and beautiful body. Sadly, the number of tigers found int he wild are disappearing at a rapid pace leaving not more than a few thousand of them in the wild today. Jim Corbett reserve forest has taken various measures to safeguard these majestic beings. Due to its symbolic strength, Tiger is regarded as the emperor of the wild by other animals and his presence is intricate to maintain the delicate food cycle of the wild.

  Elephants

Corbett reserve forest has about a thousand elephants in all and it one of the easiest animals to spot while on a safari. In summers Elephants can be seen moving around in herds of several hundred around the forest. Although Elephants are vegetarian and mostly feed on herbs but their strength is unmatchable. While on a safari one should be careful not go too close to wild elephants as they can be violent if they sense danger.

  Birds

Jim Corbett has a huge variety of birds, perhaps the most in India. The best time for bird-watchers to visit is during the winter as migratory birds from cold regions like Europe and central Asia travel to the forests of Corbett to find a warmer adobe.
